당진시가 오는 6월 27일부터 29일까지 3일간 합덕제 일원에서 제8회 당진 합덕 연꽃축제를 성대하게 개최한다고 25일 밝혔다.
후백제 견훤이 축조했다고 전해지는 합덕제는 충청남도 기념물이자 세계관개시설물 유산으로 지정된 유서 깊은 문화유산이다. 이곳은 여름철 아름다운 연꽃이 만개하여 방문객들에게 특별한 경험을 선사하는 명소로 손꼽힌다.
축제 첫날인 27일에는 화려한 개막 행사를 시작으로 초대 가수 공연과 신나는 EDM 파티가 펼쳐져 축제의 열기를 뜨겁게 달굴 예정이다. 이어 28일에는 전통의 미를 느낄 수 있는 낙화놀이와 천연기념물 남생이 방사 행사, 그리고 무더위를 식혀줄 워터슬라이드 및 풀장 등 다채로운 프로그램이 준비되어 있다.

공영식 문화체육과장은 "현재 합덕제 사계절 공원을 조성 중이며, 합덕제 정비와 발맞춰 연꽃축제가 당진을 대표하는 축제로 발돋움할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.
