【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시가 청년 창업을 통해 원도심 활성화에 박차를 가하고 있다. 시는 25일 오후 2시, 경주시 청년센터와 황오동 일원에서 ‘청년 신골든 창업특구 조성사업’ 창업팀 개소식 및 팝업스퀘어 행사를 열고, 6개 청년 창업팀의 본격적인 출범을 알렸다.
‘청년 신골든 창업특구 조성사업’은 경주시와 한국수력원자력(주)이 공동 추진하는 청년 창업 지원 사업으로, 2021년부터 시작해 올해로 4년째를 맞았다. 양 기관은 각각 2억5,000만 원씩 총 5억 원을 투입해, 유휴 상가 리모델링과 창업 초기 정착을 위한 다양한 프로그램을 지원하고 있다.
이번에 개소한 6개 창업팀은 지난해 9월 공모를 통해 최종 선정됐으며, 약 1년간의 준비 기간을 거쳐 사업을 본격화했다. 창업팀은 ▲핸드드립 디저트 카페 ‘나봉상점’ ▲보리숙성 돼지고기 전문점 ‘사계돈’ ▲식물 편집숍 ‘딥인투네이처’ ▲사천식 퓨전 중식 ‘황오바오’ ▲한복 케이크 공방 ‘미오케이크’ ▲가성비 덮밥 전문점 ‘하마키친’ 등이다.
경주시는 각 팀에 상가 리모델링, 인테리어, 기자재 구입 등을 위한 창업 지원금으로 팀당 3,500만 원을 지원했다.
이날 행사에는 주낙영 경주시장을 비롯해 이동협 시의회 의장, 지역 시의원, 정용석 한수원 본부장 등이 참석해 창업팀의 개소를 축하했다. 행사는 사업 경과보고와 함께 매장 라운딩, 현판 제막식 등으로 진행됐으며, 창업팀 제품과 지역상권을 시민에게 소개하는 팝업스퀘어와 프리마켓도 함께 열려 시민들의 관심을 모았다.
특히 창업팀이 직접 참여한 성과공유회에서는 창업 경험과 애로사항을 공유하며, 청년 창업의 현실과 가능성에 대한 생생한 목소리가 오갔다.
경주시는 이번 창업특구 조성사업을 계기로, 창업 이후의 사후관리와 컨설팅을 강화해 청년 창업팀이 지역에 안정적으로 정착할 수 있도록 지원을 지속할 방침이다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “신골든 창업특구는 단순한 창업 공간 제공을 넘어, 청년들이 경주에 뿌리내릴 수 있도록 다각적인 지원을 연계하는 창업 생태계의 중심”이라며 “청년들이 지역에서 꿈을 실현하고 지속가능한 사업체로 성장할 수 있도록 모든 행정적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.

On this day, Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-young, City Council Chairman Lee Dong-hyeop, local city council members, Hansuwon Headquarters Director Jeong Yong-seok, and others attended the event to congratulate the startup teams on their opening. The event consisted of a business progress report, store rounds, and a signboard unveiling ceremony, and a pop-up square and flea market were also held to introduce the startup teams’ products and local businesses to citizens, drawing attention from citizens.
In particular, in the performance sharing session where the startup team directly participated, they shared their startup experiences and difficulties, and vivid voices were exchanged about the reality and possibilities of youth startups.

Mayor Joo Nak-young of Gyeongju said, “The Shin Golden Startup Special Zone is the center of the startup ecosystem that links diverse support so that young people can settle down in Gyeongju beyond simply providing a startup space,” and “We will spare no administrative support so that young people can realize their dreams in the region and grow into sustainable businesses.”
