(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 26일, 검단신도시 초기 입주민들의 대중교통 편의 증진을 위해 현재 운행 중인 수요응답형 버스(I-MOD) 서비스를 검단연장선 개통(6월 28일)과 연계해 오는 12월까지 추가로 연장 운영한다고 밝혔다.
인천시에 따르면, 수요응답형 버스(I-MOD)는 이용자가 앱을 통해 출발지와 목적지 버스정류장을 선택하고 호출하면, 운영플랫폼이 최적 경로를 산출해 해당 정류장으로 차량을 보내고, 목적지까지 신속하게 이동할 수 있도록 지원하는 맞춤형 교통서비스이다.
인천시는 검단신도시 입주 초기에 대중교통 이용이 어려웠던 상황을 고려해 지난 2021년 9월부터 이 서비스를 도입해 운영해 왔다.
당초 검단연장선 개통일인 6월 28일까지 한시적으로 운영할 계획이었으나, 주민들의 지하철 이용 수요와 역사 접근성 개선 필요를 반영해 추가 연장을 결정하게 됐다.

이번 추가 연장 운행에 소요되는 사업비는 검단 택지개발 사업시행자인 인천도시공사(IH)와 한국토지주택공사(LH)가 공동 부담한다.
운영 시간은 출·퇴근 시간대인 오전 6시부터 8시 30분, 오후 6시부터 8시 30분까지로, 검단연장선 개통역 중심으로 I-MOD 4대를 배치하고, 나머지 2대는 기존처럼 검단신도시 내부 이동지원을 위해 운영할 방침이다.
