충남 서산시가 역점 추진 중인 문화예술타운 조성사업이 도시계획위원회 심의를 통과하면서 본격적인 추진에 속도를 낼 전망이다.
서산시는 26일 도시계획위원회에 상정한 문화예술타운 도시관리계획 변경(안)이 원안 가결됐다고 밝혔다. 이번 심의를 통해 문화시설 부지 조성과 진입도로 개설 등 사업의 기반을 마련하게 됐다.
문화예술타운은 서산시 석남동 일원 13만6,000여㎡ 부지에 조성될 예정이다. 조성 대상 시설은 국립국악원 분원 ,무형유산전수교육관 ,서산문화원 ,시립미술관 ,예술의전당 ,서산문학관 등 총 6개로, 단계적으로 집적 개발된다.
도시계획위원회는 공무원과 민간 전문가 등 25명으로 구성된 심의기구로, 서산시 도시계획 정책 전반에 대해 자문과 심의 역할을 수행하고 있다. 이날 시청 중회의실에서 열린 회의에서 위원들은 사업 타당성과 계획의 적정성 등을 심도 있게 검토한 끝에 시의 계획안을 승인했다.
시는 심의 결과를 반영한 도시관리계획을 7월 중 고시하고, 올해 안으로 도시계획시설사업 실시계획 인가를 받기 위해 후속 행정절차에 박차를 가할 방침이다.
특히 이번 사업의 핵심 중 하나인 국립국악원 분원은 충청권 최초 유치 사례로 주목받고 있다. 시는 분원 조기 착공과 함께 무형유산전수교육관 건립을 위한 보상 절차에 7월부터 본격 착수할 계획이다.
