충남 당진시가 중학생을 대상으로 한 진로·직업 탐색 컨설팅 프로그램을 오는 7월부터 본격적으로 시행한다. 청소년들이 자신의 정체성과 흥미를 파악하고, 장기적인 진로 목표를 설계하는 데 도움을 주기 위한 실천형 진로교육 프로그램이 시 차원에서 마련된 것은 이번이 처음이다.
이번 프로그램은 2025년 직업교육 혁신지구 사업의 일환으로 기획됐으며, 지난 6월 당진시 평생학습통합플랫폼 ‘배움나루’를 통해 학교별 신청을 받았다. 신청 결과 총 8개 중학교, 55개 학급, 1,759명의 학생이 참여 의사를 밝혔고, 시는 7월부터 12월까지 각 학교를 직접 찾아가는 방식으로 순차 운영에 나선다.
프로그램은 총 2차시로 구성되어 있으며, 학생의 자기 이해를 돕는 이론 교육과 실제 직업 정보를 탐색하고 설계하는 실습 활동이 균형 있게 포함돼 있다. 주요 내용은 △자기 탐색(정체성·성격 유형 이해), △진로 역량 검사 및 결과 해석, △직업군 분석 및 정보 탐색, △미래 진로 설계 워크숍 등으로 구성된다.

당진시 관계자는 “중학생 시기는 자기 정체성과 흥미에 눈뜨기 시작하는 중요한 시점”이라며 “이번 진로 컨설팅 프로그램이 학생들의 구체적인 진로 설계에 실질적인 도움이 되길 바란다”고 말했다.
한편 당진시는 이번 프로그램 외에도 진로진학 전문기관인 종로아카데미와의 연계를 통한 진학 컨설팅, 신성대학교 진로직업체험센터와 연계한 학과 중심 체험교육 등을 병행하며, 관내 청소년의 진로 설계 지원에 다각적인 노력을 기울이고 있다.
