충청남도와 대전시가 행정통합을 향한 여정을 본격화한 가운데, 접경지역인 금산군에서 지역주민과 소통하는 자리가 마련됐다. 양 지자체의 통합 필요성과 기대효과를 공유하고 공감대를 넓히기 위한 설명회가 금산군민을 대상으로 개최된 것이다.
대전·충남 행정통합 민관협의체(공동위원장 이창기·정재근)는 30일 금산다락원 소공연장에서 주민 설명회를 열었다. 이날 행사에는 박범인 금산군수, 김기윤 금산군의회 의장, 군의원과 공무원, 지역 주민 등 약 150명이 참석해 뜨거운 관심을 보였다.
설명회는 백운성 충남연구원 연구기획단장의 ‘대전·충남 행정통합 추진 현황’ 브리핑으로 문을 열었다. 이어 열린 토크 콘서트에서는 박종관 백석대학교 교수, 변성수 대전세종연구원 박사, 장성수 금산 중앙신문 대표, 이철주 전 금산문화원장 등이 패널로 나서 행정통합의 필요성과 지역별 파급 효과, 주민 설득 방안 등을 놓고 의견을 나눴다.
패널로 참여한 박종관 교수는 “대전충남특별시가 출범하면 금산은 아토피 자연 치유마을 확장, 건강·힐링 융복합 관광지 개발 등 그간 지지부진했던 사업의 동력을 얻게 될 것”이라며 기대감을 나타냈다.
행사는 질의응답 순서로 이어졌으며, 주민들은 통합에 따른 행정 서비스 변화, 지역 정체성 보존, 균형 발전 방안 등에 대해 적극적으로 질문하며 큰 관심을 드러냈다.
민관협의체는 이날 금산 설명회를 포함해 오는 7월 8일까지 충남도 내 15개 시군을 순회하며 설명회를 이어갈 계획이다. 협의체는 주민 설명회를 비롯해 다양한 방식의 홍보와 공론화 과정을 통해 행정통합에 대한 도민의 이해를 높이고, 실질적인 의견을 수렴하겠다는 방침이다.
충남도 관계자는 “지역마다 행정통합에 대한 우려와 기대가 공존하는 만큼, 현장의 목소리를 경청하고 진정성 있게 소통해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
