이번 해당 구간은 가좌동 2111번지 인근으로, 그동안 어사천 산책로의 연결이 끊겨 차량과 보행자 동선이 혼재되며 사고 위험이 상존해 시민들의 불편이 컸던 곳이다.
이 사업은 지난해 8월 신진주 라비에 데시앙 아파트 입주민들이 제안한 민원을 진주시가 적극 수용하면서 빠르게 추진돼 주민 중심의 행정 실현 사례로 평가된다.
이번 완공된 산책로는 총사업비 1억9000만원이 투입해 연장 148m, 폭 2.2m 규모의 보행 전용로로 자연 친화적 환경과 안전성을 동시에 갖췄다.
특히 산책로는 보행자의 야간 이용을 고려해 경관등 7개소를 설치해 시인성을 높였고, 밤에도 시민들이 안심하고 이용할 수 있는 쾌적한 보행 환경이 마련됐다.
진주시 관계자는 “이번 보행로 연결로 어사천 일대 보행 흐름이 개선되고 시민 여가생활에도 긍정적 영향을 줄 것이다”며“앞으로도 시민 불편 해소에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
