브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 노동진 수협중앙회장이 국제협동조합연맹(ICA) 수산위원회 위원장으로 재선출됐다.
ICA는 세계 협동조합을 대표하는 최대 규모의 국제 비정부기구로, 수산위원회는 각국의 수협이 속해 있다.
3일(현지시간) 노동진 수협 회장은 영국 맨체스터에서 열린 ICA 수산위원회 총회에서 회원국 만장일치로 수산위원회 위원장에 올랐다고 수협중앙회측은 전했다.
임기는 2029년까지 4년이다.
2023년 전임 수협 회장의 퇴임으로 수산위원장직을 승계받았던 노 회장은 이번 선출로 국제 수산 협력 분야에서 지속적인 리더십을 이어가게 됐다.
국내 수협 회장이 수산위원장에 선출된 건 2009년부터 이번까지 5회 연속이다.
요르단 협동조합 압둘 샬라비 사무총장을 비롯한 회원국 대표들은 노동진 위원장의 수산분야 장학생 지원사업과 수산업 장비 구매 지원사업 등 그간의 기여에 대해 높이 평가하며 적극적인 지지를 표명했다.
노 회장은 총회 개회사를 통해 “기후변화, 해양 생태계 파괴로 인한 수산자원 고갈이라는 세계 수산업이 안고 있는 공통적인 문제 해결을 위해 수산위원회를 중심으로 회원국 간 상호협력을 강화해 나가겠다”고 강조했다.
한편, 노동진 회장은 총회에 앞서 지난달 말 네덜란드 로테르담을 방문해 현지 유통매장과 부산항만공사 로테르담 물류센터를 둘러보며 네덜란드 등 서유럽 국가로의 한국 수산물 수출 확대 방안을 모색했다.
1895년 런던에서 설립된 ICA는 103개국 299개 회원단체에서 약 10억 명의 조합원을 둔 단체로서 수산업, 농업, 금융, 보험, 소비자, 생산자, 보건, 주택 등 8개의 분과기구를 두고 있으며 올해로 설립 130주년을 맞았다.
