브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 북한 민간인 1명이 지난 3일 중서부전선에서 군사분계선(MDL)을 넘어 귀순했다.
합동참모본부는 4일 "우리 군은 3일 야간 중서부전선에서 MDL을 넘어오는 북한 인원 1명의 신병을 확보했다"고 밝혔다.
합참에 따르면 우리 군은 감시 초소(GP)에서 감시 장비를 통해 북한 남성 1명이 중서부 전선 지역 중 수심 1ｍ 정도의 얕은 하천으로 접근한 것을 발견했다.
그는 낮에는 움직이지 않다가 밤이 돼서야 이동한 것으로 전해졌다. 우리 군은 해당 인원을 귀순자라 판단한 뒤, 완전무장한 병력을 투입해 구조작전에 나섰다.
우리 군이 북한 주민에 가까이 접근하자 그는 "누구냐"고 물었고, 우리 군 중사는 "우리는 대한민국 국군이다. 우리가 안전하게 안내하겠다"고 했다.
이후 북한 주민은 100여m를 이동해 우리 군과 조우했으며 그는 본인이 직접 민간인이라고 밝혔고, 이에 군은 해당 인원을 관계 기관에 인도했다.
합참 관계자는 "귀순작전 과정에서 우리 군이 큰 소리로 북한 주민과 대화를 했는데도 북한군은 아무런 움직임이 없었다"면서 "현재까지도 북한군의 특이동향은 없다"고 말했다.
