【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=한국원자력환경공단(이사장 조성돈)은 7월 4일 정부서울청사에서 사회적 취약계층의 권익 보호를 위한 사회공동협약을 체결했다. 이번 협약에는 공단을 포함해 총 28개 공공기관과 민간단체가 참여했다.

이번 협약은 물가 상승 등으로 생활 여건이 더욱 어려워진 취약계층을 적극 지원하기 위한 것으로, 정부의 민생안정 정책 기조에 맞춰 추진됐다. 공단은 이번 협약을 통해 저소득층, 한부모 가정, 자립준비청년, 독거노인 등 다양한 계층에 실질적인 도움을 제공할 방침이다.
한국원자력환경공단은 방폐장 인근 지역에서 생산된 배추를 직접 구매해 지역 주민이 참여한 절임작업을 거친 후, 이를 장애인시설과 지역아동센터에 지원하는 등 지역 연계형 복지 활동을 활발히 전개하고 있다. 또한 출산 산모 및 저소득층을 대상으로 지역 특산품을 제공하고, 로컬푸드를 활용한 어르신 무료급식소 운영 등도 이어가고 있다.
특히 자립준비청년을 위한 지원책도 주목된다. 공단은 경주의 사회복지기관 대자원, 성애원과 협력해 정서·직무 멘토링, 진로설계, 금융 교육, 해외 견학 및 자립여행 등의 맞춤형 프로그램을 진행하고 있다. 아울러 경주경찰서와 함께 복지시설 주변에 범죄예방환경설계(CPTED)를 적용해 보다 안전한 생활환경 조성에도 앞장서고 있다.
김용완 공단 부이사장은 “지역 대표 공공기관으로서 책임감을 갖고, 앞으로도 지역과의 상생을 기반으로 취약계층을 위한 다양한 맞춤형 복지사업을 지속해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Korea Radioactive Waste Agency Signs Social Agreement to Support Vulnerable Groups
On July 4, Korea Radioactive Waste Agency (Chairman Cho Seong-don) signed a social agreement to protect the rights and interests of socially vulnerable groups at the government complex in Seoul.
