당진시가 면천읍성의 관광 활성화를 위해 한국수자원공사, 한국관광공사, 면천사랑봉사회와 손을 맞잡았다.
지난 7일 당진시청에서 진행된 업무협약을 통해 각 기관은 지역 상생 가치 실현과 관광 활성화를 위한 긴밀한 협력을 다짐했다.
이날 협약식에는 오성환 당진시장과 임종헌 한국수자원공사 아산권지사장, 심홍용 한국관광공사 대전충남지사장, 박노규 면천사랑봉사회 이사장 등 주요 관계자들이 참석하여 면천읍성의 발전 가능성에 대한 기대를 표했다.
이번 협약은 한국수자원공사가 주관하는 '지역가치 창출 프로젝트' 공모 사업에 면천읍성이 최종 선정된 데 따른 것으로, 지역의 자생력을 높이고 관광을 활성화하는 데 중점을 둔다. 협약에 따라 참여 기관들은 면천읍성의 관광 콘텐츠 개발과 홍보 마케팅에 적극적으로 나서며, 상호 운영협의체를 구성하여 지역의 매력을 극대화할 계획이다.
오성환 당진시장은 "전문적인 기관 및 단체와의 협업을 통해 면천읍성이 체계적인 관광 콘텐츠 개발과 홍보 마케팅으로 전국에서 주목받는 문화관광의 중심지가 될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.
면천읍성은 조선 후기 실학자 연암 박지원의 흔적과 풍부한 역사문화자원을 품고 있으며, 이미 한국관광공사의 '강소형 잠재관광지 활성화 사업' 및 '관광두레' 사업의 거점으로 자리매김하여 많은 관광객에게 사랑받고 있다.
