김혜련 세종문화회관 전 극단장님(전 서울시극단장)이 7월14일 별세하셨다고 합니다. 향년 78세이십니다. 빈소는 서울시 순천향병원 장례식장이며, 7월 16일 아침 발인합니다.
돌이켜 생각하면, 이 분은 여걸(女傑)이셨습니다. 전라도 전북의 최대 들판지역(전북 김제군 용지면)의 부자집에 태어났습니다. 고대를 졸업했습니다. 연극인으로 활동하다 미국에 유학, 뉴욕대학을 졸업했습니다. 뉴욕에서는 라디오 코리아 대표를 역임했습니다.

그분은 지난 2013-2015년까지 서울시 극단장(세종문화회관 소속)으로 재임했습니다. 재임 기간 '에미이름은 조센삐였다’ 등의 연극을 선보였습니다. 그런데 고인은 운이 좋게 태어났던 생일날 사망했다고 합니다.
필자는 1985년부터 김혜련 연극인님과 친한 관계를 유지해왔었습니다. 그때는 이 분이 미국 뉴욕의 맨해튼에 있는 뉴욕대학에서 유학하실 때입니다. 극작가 정하연 씨의 전 부인이시기도 합니다.
