한국자유총연맹(총재 강석호)은 7월 17일부터 23일까지 6박 7일간 ‘해외동포 MZ세대 자유민주주의 공감 모국연수’ 행사를 진행한다.

‘자유민주주의 공감 모국연수’는 지유총연맹 35개 해외지부의 추천을 통해 선발된 해외동포 MZ세대들이 대한민국의 역사, 문화, 안보를 체험하며 자유민주주의의 가치를 이해하고, 올바른 국가관과 안보관을 형성할 수 있도록 마련됐다. 또한, 모국에 대한 정체성과 자긍심을 고취하고, 글로벌 MZ세대 간 교류를 통해 차세대 네트워크와 리더십을 함께 키우는 데 목적이 있다.
모국연수단은 미국, 뉴질랜드, 프랑스, 라오스, 캐나다, 인도네시아 등에서 온 40명의 해외동포 학생으로 구성됐다.
모국연수단은 전일 입소식을 시작으로 현충원 참배, 민주화운동기념관 방문, 한국민속촌과 경복궁 견학 등에 참여할 예정이다. 특히 민주화운동기념관은 과거의 역사를 통해 민주주의를 깊이 이해하고 배울 수 있는 교육·전시·연구가 종합된 공간으로, 민주열사들의 희생과 삶을 되새기는 뜻깊은 체험의 장이 될 예정이다.
연맹 박태우 연구원장은 “이번 모국연수를 통해 참가자 한 명 한 명이 한민족으로서 자긍심과 정체성을 더욱 굳건히 하며, 대한민국 자유민주주의의 가치를 널리 알리는 미래세대로 성장하기를 기대한다”라고 밝혔다.
박 연구원장은 모국연수단의 방문 의미를 되짚으며, “앞으로도 우리 연맹은 해외동포 MZ세대가 올바른 국가관과 안보관을 갖춘 차세대 글로벌리더로 발돋움할 수 있도록 지속적으로 지원해 나갈 것”이라고 전했다.
