[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해시는 국제 자매도시인 미국 워싱턴주 레이크우드시의 공식 초청을 받아 지난 17일부터 22일까지 일정으로 레이크우드시 대표 축제 ‘Lakewood SummerFEST 2025’에 K-pop 공연단과 교류 실무진을 파견했다고 21일 밝혔다.
이번 방문은 2024년 김해시 부시장단의 레이크우드시 방문 시 협의된 사항에 따른 후속 조치로 실질적인 문화 교류의 성과를 확인하는 계기가 됐다. 김해시는 교류협력팀 실무진 2명과 2011년 김해에서 창단해 전국을 기반으로 활동하는 비보잉 그룹 ‘와일드 크루’, 안무가 김여주 등으로 구성된 공연단 4명 등 총 6명이 방문단으로 참여했다.
공연단은 지난 19일 개막식을 시작으로 포트 스틸라쿰 공원(Fort Steilacoom Park)에서 열린 레이크우드시 여름 축제 공식 무대에서 두 차례 수준 높은 K-pop 공연을 선보여 현지 시민들로부터 뜨거운 환호와 박수를 받았다.
레이크우드시 시민들은 한목소리로 “자매도시 김해시에서 온 K-pop 댄서들의 생동감 넘치는 무대에 깊은 인상을 받았다”며 “한국 문화에 대한 관심이 더 커졌다”는 반응을 보이며 공연에 열광했다.
