브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= KT는 기록적인 집중호우로 수해 피해를 입은 지역의 주민을 돕기 위해 사회복지공동모금회(사랑의열매)에 수해 피해 복구 성금 10억원을 기탁했다고 23일 밝혔다. 성금은 이재민들의 일상 회복을 돕는데 활용될 예정이다.
KT는 성금 기탁 외에도 경남 산청군, 경기도 가평군, 광주광역시를 비롯해 수해 피해가 큰 지역을 중심으로 현장 지원과 봉사 활동도 진행하고 있다.
KT 임직원 봉사단은 경남 산청군청과 협력해 산청 지역에 양말과 수건 등의 생필품 7000여개를 현장에 전달했고, 경기도 가평군 조종면에는 식료품과 생수 등 긴급 구호물품을 기부했다.
KT는 전국에서 가장 큰 수해 피해를 입은 광주광역시 광산구 도곡동 일대의 복구 현장에는 오는 24일 이재민들과 봉사자를 위한 ‘KT 사랑의 밥차’를 지원해 300인분의 식사를 제공할 계획이다.
또한, 전국에 마련된 임시 대피소에 스마트기기 급속 충전시설과 무선랜을 설치해 현장 대응과 주민들의 긴급 연락이 원활하도록 지원했다.
앞서 KT는 지난 3월 영남지역 산불 피해 복구 성금 10억원을 기탁하고 이재민을 위한 현장 구호 활동을 펼치는 등 재난 대응에 앞장서고 있다.
KT 관계자는 “큰 재해로 삶의 터전을 잃고 어려움을 겪고 있는 이재민들에게 깊은 위로를 전한다”며 “이재민들이 빠르게 삶의 터전으로 복귀해 일상을 회복할 수 있도록 복구 현장 중심의 지원을 하겠다”고 말했다.
