최근 집중호우로 인해 금강 상류에서 대량의 해양쓰레기가 유입되면서, 충남 서천군이 해안환경 보호를 위한 긴급 대응에 나섰다.
김기웅 서천군수는 26일 오전, 비인면 장포리 해안에서 군청 소속 공직자 50여 명과 함께 정화활동을 벌이며 현장을 직접 지휘했다.
이번 활동은 집중 강우로 금강을 따라 하류까지 밀려온 부유물과 생활쓰레기가 해양 생태계와 지역 어업에 심각한 피해를 주고 있다는 우려에 따라 긴급히 추진됐다.
