부천시에 따르면, 미니뉴타운 사업은 원도심 내 주거환경을 체계적으로 개선하는 광역 정비사업으로, 선정된 2곳은 원미동 원미초등학교 일원(163,483㎡), 심곡본동 극동․롯데 아파트 일원(109,388㎡)이다.
부천형 역세권 정비사업은 역세권 주거지역을 중심으로 고밀개발을 추진해 주거 기능을 개선하고, 결합 정비를 통해 원도심의 주거환경을 개선하는 사업이다.
