“서울시 남산을 오르다 보면, 중턱쯤에 잠두봉 전망대가 나온다. 남산은 원래 누에를 닮은 산이다. 그리고 남산의 잠두봉(蠶頭峰)이란, 누에의 머리를 뜻한다. 머리에는 뽕잎을 먹고, 그 입에서 명주실을 빼낸다. 누에는 4잠을 잔다. 잠잘 때의 특징은? 누에는 반드시 잠을 잘 때 머리를 하늘 쪽으로, 위로, 들고서 잠을 잔다. 그리고 누에가 잠을 잘 때 건드리면 안 된다. 신비의 생물체이다. 누에는 그런 연후에 명주실을 뽑는다. 누에의 머리란, 명주가 나오는 곳으로, 명주=재화로 비견(比肩)된다. 그래서, 남산 잠두봉의 설화(說話)가 생겨났다. 잠두봉이 바라다 보이는 곳에 돈이 쌓인다는 것이다. 남산 잠두봉이 바라다 보이는 곳의 땅(부동산=명당)이 돈방석이라는 신화이다. 예를 들면, 서울 남대문 일대-서소문 일대-합동 일대-서울역 인근이 그 지역에 해당된다. 한국의 최대 대기업인 삼성그룹의 본사가 그 부근에 해당된다. 중앙일보 자리에 삼성 금융센터가 들어서고 있는 것도, 예삿일이 아니다, 그 일대는 잠두봉이 바라보이는 땅이다.”

[후기]서울시 남산에서 서쪽을 향해 내려다보이는 곳이 위에서 언급한 명당(吉地)지역이다. 역사적으로 보면, 이 일대가 일제 강점기의 한반도 통치 지역이었다. 서울역이 일제 수탈(收奪)의 한 중심지였다. 호남의 곡창지대에서 수탈한 곡식들이 서울역을 거쳐 만주로까지 이동됐다. 서울역 부근은 일제 대륙침략의 전진 기지 역할을 했다.
