경기북부보훈지청(지청장 손순욱)이 광복 80주년을 맞아 독립유공자들에 대한 감사의 마음을 전하는 묘소 참배를 이어가고 있다.
지청은 4일 국가보훈부 '광복 80, 독립유공자 묘소 참배 캠페인'의 일환으로 파주시에 위치한 故장준하 지사의 묘소를 찾아 참배했다고 밝혔다.

장준하 지사는 독립운동사에서 특별한 의미를 갖는 인물이다.
1944년 7월 7일 중국 서주에서 일제 군대를 탈출한 후 중국 중앙 육군 군관학교 제10분교 간부훈련단 내 한국광복군 간부훈련반에서 독립 정신과 전투 능력 향상을 위한 교육을 받았다.
이후 대한민국 임시정부의 부름을 받아 중경으로 향했으며, 임시정부 요인들과 중국 조야에서 큰 환영을 받았다.
국가보훈부 공훈전자사료관에 따르면, 이 한국청년의 조국애와 일군 탈출 행적은 국제적 여론을 환기시켰으며, 한미합작군사훈련(O.S.S.)을 받은 특수공작과 종전기 독립운동 전선에 기여한 공로가 확인됐다.
정부는 이러한 공훈을 기려 1991년 장 지사에게 건국훈장 4등급 애국장을 추서했다.
이날 참배에서 손순욱 지청장과 직원들은 장 지사 묘소에 소형 태극기를 비치하고 국화를 헌화한 후 묵념의 시간을 가졌다.

경기북부보훈지청은 폭염과 폭우가 반복되는 어려운 날씨 속에서도 독립유공자에 대한 깊은 감사의 마음을 담아 관내 11개 지역 묘소를 꾸준히 찾고 있다.
지청 관계자는 "광복 80주년을 맞아 순국선열들의 희생정신을 기리고, 국민 모두가 그 뜻을 기억할 수 있도록 최선을 다해 예우하겠다"고 전했다.
지난 2월부터 시작된 이번 독립유공자 묘소 참배 캠페인은 연중 행사로서 올해 연말까지 계속 진행될 예정이다.
