당진시(시장 오성환)는 오는 8월 8일부터 10일까지 사흘간 당진시 실내체육관에서 '2025 현정화배 당진해나루 전국오픈 탁구대회'를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
이번 대회에는 전국 각지에서 1,000여 명의 탁구 동호인이 참가를 신청하여 지역경제 활성화에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
특히 이번 대회는 지난 2024년 1월 당진시 명예시민으로 위촉된 '탁구 신화' 현정화 감독의 이름을 걸고 열린다는 점에서 그 의미가 더욱 깊다. 현정화 감독은 대회 기간 중 당진시 탁구 유망주들에게 장학금을 전달하며 격려의 시간을 가질 예정이다.
