【브레이크뉴스 경북】진예솔 기자=경북교육청은 지난달 27일부터 8월 2일까지 6박 7일간 진행한 ‘사제동행 국외 독립운동길 순례’ 일정을 성공적으로 마무리했다고 밝혔다.
참여한 경북 도내 고등학생과 인솔 교사 등 37명은 중국 내 주요 독립운동 유적지를 탐방하며 항일 역사를 직접 체험했다.
이들은 상하이를 시작으로 자싱, 난징, 충칭까지 약 5,000km를 이동하며 독립운동가들의 발자취를 따라갔다. 참가 학생들은 일제강점기 조국의 독립을 위해 헌신한 선열들의 정신을 직접 느끼며, 우리 역사에 대한 깊은 성찰의 시간을 가졌다.
자싱에서는 김구 선생이 몸을 숨겼던 ‘김구 피난처’와 임시정부 요인들의 거주지를 둘러보며, 열악한 환경 속에서도 독립을 향한 희망을 지켰던 의지를 생생히 접했다. 난징에서는 ‘이제항 위안소 전시관’과 ‘난징대학살기념관’을 방문해 전쟁과 식민지 지배가 남긴 참혹한 인권 유린의 역사를 되짚었다.
한 참가 학생은 “아픈 역사가 다시는 반복되지 않도록, 우리가 더 관심을 갖고 기억해야겠다는 생각이 들었다”고 말했다.
마지막 일정지인 충칭에서는 대한민국 임시정부 청사와 광복군 총사령부, 해방비 거리를 찾아 독립운동가들의 고난과 헌신을 돌아봤다.
특히 1945년 임시정부 요인들이 개인 자격으로 귀국해야 했던 역사적 사건을 기억하며, 참가 학생들은 인천공항에서 환국을 상징하는 퍼포먼스를 펼치며 일정을 마무리했다.
임종식 교육감은 “이번 순례는 단순한 역사 탐방을 넘어, 청소년들이 우리 민족의 자주정신과 세계시민으로서의 책임감을 되새기는 계기가 됐다”며 “앞으로도 살아 있는 역사교육을 위해 다양한 체험 프로그램을 확대해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

The Gyeongbuk Office of Education announced the successful conclusion of the "Teacher-Teacher Pilgrimage to Overseas Independence Movement Routes," a six-night, seven-day event held from August 27th to August 2nd.
The 37 participants, including high school students and accompanying teachers from Gyeongbuk Province, visited key independence movement sites in China and experienced anti-Japanese history firsthand.
Starting in Shanghai, they traveled approximately 5,000 kilometers to Jiaxing, Nanjing, and Chongqing, retracing the footsteps of independence activists. In Nanjing, the participants visited the Ijehang Comfort Women Exhibition Hall and the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall, reflecting on the horrific human rights violations left behind by war and colonial rule.
One participating student said, "I felt that we must pay more attention and remember this painful history so that it is never repeated."
In Chongqing, the final stop, they visited the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea building, the headquarters of the Korean Liberation Army, and the Liberation Monument Street, reflecting on the hardships and dedication of independence activists.
Notably, they commemorated the historical event in 1945 when key figures of the Provisional Government were forced to return to Korea in their individual capacities. The participants concluded their trip with a performance symbolizing their return to Korea at Incheon International Airport.
Superintendent of Education Lim Jong-sik stated, "This pilgrimage went beyond a simple historical exploration. It served as an opportunity for young people to reflect on the spirit of independence of our people and their responsibility as global citizens." He added, "We will continue to expand diverse experiential programs to ensure a vibrant history education."
