[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 도내 유일의 양궁 전용구장 진주스포츠파크 양궁장에서 해외 양궁 국가대표팀을 잇달아 유치하며 경남을 대표하는 국제 전지훈련지로 발돋움하고 있다.
진주시의 이번 성과는 진주시의 체육 인프라뿐 아니라 진주시체육회, 전) 부산도시개발공사 감독이자 현 진주문산양궁장 감독인 이순미 감독(58)의 적극적인 노력으로 가능했다.
진주 양궁장은 지난해 서울체고 등 전국체전 출전팀들의 전지훈련 장소로 주목을 받았으며, 올해는 해외 국가대표팀까지 훈련지로 찾으며 국제적인 입지를 다지고 있다.
해외 양궁 국가대표팀은 오는 9월 광주에서 열리는 ‘2025 현대 세계양궁선수권대회’를 앞두고, 우크라이나와 아랍에미리트(UAE) 양궁 국가대표팀이 진주에서 마지막 담금질에 들어간다.
UAE 대표팀은 오는 25일부터 9월 4일까지 10박 11일, 우크라이나 대표팀은 오는 30일부터 9월 4일까지 5박 6일간 진주 양궁장에서 전지훈련을 진행할 예정이다.
