[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 지난 2024년 개인정원 발굴 및 선정사업을 통해 지역 내 우수 개인정원 8곳을 최종 선정하며 ‘정원속의 진주’ 브랜드화에 속도를 내고 있다.
이번 사업은 생활 속 정원문화를 확산하고, 이를 관광자원으로 활용하기 위해 추진된 것으로 진주시가 국가정원 지정을 목표로 지속 추진 중인 핵심 사업이다.
진주시는 지난 2022년 15곳, 지난 2023년 13곳에 이어 올해도 8곳의 우수 개인정원을 발굴해 총 44곳의 정원을 선정하며 꾸준한 성과를 이어가고 있다.
시는 올해 선정 과정에서 지난 3월부터 접수를 받아 서류 심사와 현장 평가를 거쳐 정원의 특수성과 조형성, 역사성, 관리 상태 등 다양한 기준으로 평가가 이뤄졌다.
이번 최종 선정된 우수정원은 호수가의 정원(대평면), 가든드펄(판문동), 정온·소소원(금산면), 파운틴가든(인사동), 운봉정사(지수면), 앤틱퀼트(신안동), 류정의 뜰(명석면) 등 8곳이다.
진주시는 우수정원에 대해 등록증과 명패를 수여하고, 홍보 리플릿 제작과 SNS·홈페이지 등을 통해 시민들에게 각 정원의 고유한 가치와 이야기를 소개할 계획이다.
시는 지난 6월 대한민국 정원산업박람회를 성공적으로 개최한 데 이어, 국가정원 지정과 정원문화 확산을 위한 다양한 사업을 전개하고 있다.
