브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 최태원 SK 회장이 “이제는 AI/DT 기술을 속도감 있게 내재화해 차별화된 경쟁력을 만들어야 하는 시대”라며 “구성원 개개인이 AI를 친숙하게 가지고 놀 수 있어야 혁신과 성공을 이룰 수 있다”고 AI 체화의 중요성을 강조했다.
최태원 회장은 이달 20일 서울 SK서린빌딩에서 열린 ‘이천포럼 2025’ 마무리 세션에서 ‘AI시대 경쟁력 확보 방안’에 대해 이 같이 밝혔다.
최 회장은 “앞으로는 현재 우리가 하는 업무의 대부분이 AI 에이전트로 대체될 것”이라며 “사람은 창조적이고 새로운 가치를 만드는 역할에 집중해야 한다”고 당부했다.
이번 이천포럼의 마무리 세션은 최 회장이 온·오프라인으로 참석한 SK 구성원들과 실시간으로 소통하며 AI/DT(디지털 전환), 운영개선, 지속가능한 행복에 대한 생각을 밝히는 방식으로 진행됐다.
현장에는 최 회장, 최재원 수석부회장, 최창원 수펙스추구협의회 의장을 비롯한 주요 경영진, SK 구성원을 대표해 현장에 참여한 ‘프론티어(Frontier)’ 구성원 등 170명이 함께 했다. 총 2800여 명의 온라인 참여자도 실시간으로 질문과 의견을 달았다.
최 회장은 SK그룹이 추진하고 있는 ‘운영개선(O/I, Operation Improvement)’에 대해서도 언급했다. 최 회장은 “운영개선은 회사의 기초체력을 키우는 일이며, AI 세상이 왔으나 기초 체력이 없다면 그 위에 쌓아 올린 건 결국 무너질 것”이라며 “AI 시대 본원적 경쟁력 확보를 위해 일상적인 오퍼레이션을 충분히 이해하고 강화하는 것이 필요하다”고 말했다.
이어 “사람마다 행복이 다르지만 결국 공통된 행복을 키워가자는 게 SKMS(SK 경영관리 시스템)의 목표”라며 “지속가능한 행복을 위해 모두가 자발적 의욕적으로 ‘스피크 아웃’(적극적 의견 개진)하며 함께 노력해야 한다. SKMS는 구성원만을 위한 것이 아니라 사회와 다양한 이해관계자들의 행복을 동시에 고려하는 방향으로 발전시켜 나가야 한다”고 덧붙였다.
올해 9회째를 맞은 이천포럼은 최 회장이 2017년 급변하는 경영환경에 대응할 변화추진 플랫폼의 필요성을 제안하며 시작된 SK의 대표적인 연례 행사다. 국내외 석학과 전문가는 물론 SK 구성원이 적극 참여해 글로벌 산업 트렌드와 혁신기술, 미래 사업 방향을 집중 토론한다.
최태 회장이 AI를 이천포럼의 주요 어젠다로 삼은 것은 2019년부터다. AI/DT등 혁신기술을 핵심 동력으로 삼아, 글로벌 경쟁력을 어떻게 끌어올릴 수 있을지 최고경영진부터 실무자까지 3~4일에 걸쳐 논의하고 학습했다.
