전북특별자치도가 아세안(동남아시아 국가연합) 지역과 국제교류 물꼬를 열었다.
한-아세안센터는 21일 전북도청에서 아세안 지역 간 교류 증진을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.
이번 협약은 전북자치도와 전주시가 글로벌 문화·스포츠 허브로 도약하기 위한 제도적 기반을 마련하고 아세안 지역의 교류 및 협력 기반을 마련하고자 추진됐다.
협약에 따라 3개 기관은 ▲ 문화ㆍ관광 교류 프로그램 공동 추진 ▲ 한-아세안센터 주관 사업 전북 우선 협력 추진 ▲ 필요 사업 공동 지원 등을 약속했다.
특히 지역 내 아세안 문화 교류 거점을 위해 오는 2026년 전북 한국전통문화의전당에 '아세안 홀'도 개관한다.
김관영 전북지사는 "이번 협약을 계기로 전북이 아시아와 세계를 잇는 글로벌 문화ㆍ스포츠 허브로 도약하고 무역ㆍ투자ㆍ관광 등 다양한 분야에서 새로운 기회를 열어갈 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다.
이어 "앞으로 전북국제협력진흥원과 아세안 공동 사업을 적극 발굴하고 문화ㆍ관광 포럼 및 국제행사 유치 등을 통해 동아시아 교류의 허브로 성장할 수 있도록 힘쓰겠다"고 덧붙였다.
김재신 한-아세안센터 사무총장은 "전북특별자치도ㆍ전주시ㆍ아세안이 함께한다면 문화ㆍ관광ㆍ경제 분야에서 상호 교류가 한층 더 활발해질 것으로 기대한다"고 화답했다.
