파주시에서 포크 음악의 진정한 의미를 탐구하는 특별한 축제가 열린다.
파주문화재단이 주최·주관하고 파주시가 후원하는 '2025 파주포크페스티벌'이 "What is Folk?"라는 슬로건 아래 오는 9월 19일(금)부터 20일(토)까지 이틀간 파주 일대에서 펼쳐진다.
이번 축제는 문산행복센터 대공연장과 임진강 평화누리 야외공연장 두 곳에서 진행되며, 작년에 이어 포크 듀오 '여행스케치'(조병석·남준봉)가 예술감독을 맡아 포크 음악 특유의 감성과 깊이를 선보일 예정이다.

올해는 전야제와 본공연으로 구성해 축제 규모를 한층 확대했다.
19일 오후 7시 문산행복센터 대공연장에서 열리는 전야제 'Folk, 아직 끝나지 않은 노래'는 포크 레전드들과 함께하는 뮤직 토크쇼 형식으로 진행된다.
대중음악 평론가 임진모가 진행을 맡고, 포크 감성듀오 '유리상자'와 떠오르는 신예 '황가람'이 출연해 지나간 포크와 다가올 포크에 대해 관객들과 소통하며 축제의 포문을 연다.
20일 본공연은 임진각 평화누리 야외공연장에서 오후 5시부터 시작된다.
김세환, 사랑과 평화, 최백호, 정미조, 옥상달빛 등 포크 음악계의 대표 아티스트들이 무대에 올라 포크의 정수를 보여줄 예정이다.
본공연 외에도 오후 1시부터 버스킹 무대가 마련되어, 파주에서 활동하는 예술단체와 예술가들이 직접 무대를 꾸며 지역 문화의 다양성과 활기를 더할 계획이다.
2025년 파주포크페스티벌은 전석 무료로 진행되지만, 플로어석에 한해 사전 예매가 가능하다.
파주시민 대상 선예매는 8월 26일(화) 오후 2시부터, 일반 예매는 9월 2일(화) 오후 2시부터 파주문화재단 홈페이지에서 진행된다.
플로어석 외에도 피크닉석, 패밀리석은 예매 없이 자유롭게 이용할 수 있어 가족 단위 관람객들이 돗자리와 간단한 간식을 가져와 하루 종일 축제를 만끽할 수 있도록 배려했다.
파주문화재단 김영준 대표이사는 "파주포크페스티벌은 평화의 도시 파주에서만 만날 수 있는 특별한 음악축제"라며 "재단 출범 이후 처음 개최되는 이번 축제를 통해 체계적인 기획과 운영 경험을 쌓고, 지역 문화 역량을 한층 끌어올리는 계기로 삼겠다"고 밝혔다.
