브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= KT는 영유아동 전용 IPTV 서비스인 지니 TV 키즈랜드에 오리지널 시리즈 ‘키즈랜드 자연백과’의 새 시즌 ‘베베핀: 커다란 동물 세계’를 공개한다고 21일 밝혔다.
키즈랜드 자연백과는 BBC 스튜디오(BBC Studios)가 제공한 고화질 자연 다큐멘터리 영상에 인기 캐릭터를 결합해 차별화된 학습 경험을 제공하는 에듀테인먼트(교육과 놀이를 결합한 학습 방식) 콘텐츠다. 2020년 시즌1 공개 이후 누적 시청 수 1억1000만 회를 돌파하며 키즈랜드의 대표 오리지널 시리즈로 자리잡았다.
신작 ‘베베핀: 커다란 동물 세계’는 자연백과 시즌1 ‘공룡·아기 동물 탐험대’와, 시즌2 ‘상어 탐험대’, 시즌3 ‘세계 동물 탐험대’에 이은 네 번째 시리즈다. KT가 투자하고 글로벌 패밀리 엔터테인먼트 기업 더핑크퐁컴퍼니의 인기 캐릭터 ‘베베핀’이 합류했다.
이번 시즌은 글로벌 인기 캐릭터 ‘베베핀’ 삼남매가 대자연을 탐험하며 세상에서 가장 큰 동물들을 만나는 여정을 그렸다. 삼남매는 AI 로봇 ‘피오’와 함께 코끼리, 기린, 대왕고래부터 장수말벌, 땅귀뚜라미, 코코넛크랩까지 크고 신기한 동물 20종을 관찰하며 자연의 신비를 경험한다.

KT는 이번 론칭을 기념해 더핑크퐁컴퍼니와 내달 20~21일 메가박스 성수 더 부티크 상영관에서 ‘키즈랜드 자연백과 시사회’를 개최한다. 시사회에서는 신규 시즌 상영과 베베핀 삼남매 탈인형과의 밋앤그릿(Meet & Greet) 행사가 진행된다. 역대 ‘키즈랜드 자연백과’를 가장 많이 시청한 지니 TV 고객 중 추첨을 통해 200명을 초대하며, 응모는 9월 7일까지 지니 TV 리모컨을 통해 가능하다.
KT IPTV 사업본부장 최광철 상무는 “자연백과 시리즈는 지니 TV 키즈랜드 고객들에게 오랜 시간 사랑받으며 검증된 키즈 콘텐츠”라며 “양질의 다큐와 친근한 캐릭터가 결합된 키즈랜드 자연백과는 언어와 문화를 초월해 글로벌 시장에서도 충분한 경쟁력을 가질 것으로 기대된다”고 말했다.
