전북 임실군이 '세계적인 치즈 메카'로 발전시키기 위해 저지유를 활용한 프리미엄 유제품 생산에 행정력을 모으고 있는 가운데 전북도 축산연구소가 전문 목장 육성 기술을 지원한다.
전북도 축산연구소는 임실군 농생명산업지구를 저지종 젖소 사업의 거점지 육성 핵심 전략으로 수정란을 자체 생산해 임실군 농가에 보급하는 체계 구축으로 전환했다고 25일 밝혔다.
이번 기술지원은 올 2월 임실군과 체결한 '낙농산업 발전 업무협약(MOU)' 후속 절차다.
축산연구소는 향후 2주 간격으로 '채란'을 실시해 '수정란'을 생산, 임실군 저지종 전문 목장에 2029년까지 800개를 보급할 방침이다.
연구소는 임실군이 국립축산과학원으로부터 확보한 저지종 공란우 6두를 대상으로 초음파 장비를 활용한 생체난자흡입술(OPU = 초음파 장비로 살아있는 소의 난소를 직접 확인하며 난자를 채취하는 기술로 단기간에 우수한 수정란을 반복생산 할 수 있음)을 실시해 난자를 채취했다.

한편, 저지종 젖소는 기존 홀스타인 품종보다 원유 단백질과 유지방 함량이 높아 고급 치즈와 유제품 생산에 유리하다.
