【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포스코그룹이 ‘2025 기후산업국제박람회’에 참가해 그룹의 탈탄소 비전과 탄소감축 기술 역량을 선보인다.
27일부터 사흘간 부산 벡스코(BEXCO)에서 개최되는 기후산업국제박람회는 정부 주요 부처가 공동 주최하는 국제 행사로, 올해는 산업통상자원부가 주관하는 ‘에너지 슈퍼위크(Energy Super Week, 8월 25일 ~ 29일)’와 연계하여 인공지능(AI) 시대가 가져올 미래 에너지 혁신 기술을 소개한다.
올해로 참가 5회째를 맞이하는 포스코그룹은 포스코홀딩스, 포스코, 포스코인터내셔널이 통합 전시관을 운영한다.
포스코그룹 전시관은 △탈탄소 비전 △수소환원제철 △브릿지 기술 △인텔리전트 팩토리 △에너지전환 등 5개존(zone)으로 구성되는데, 전시관 가장 중앙에 위치한 탈탄소 비전 존에서 수소환원제철 기술부터 탄소감축 브릿지(bridge) 기술, 에너지 전환에 이르는 포스코그룹의 탈탄소 전략을 한눈에 확인할 수 있다.
수소환원제철 존에서는 석탄 대신 수소를 환원제로 사용해 이산화탄소 배출량을 획기적으로 줄이는 한국형 수소환원제철 기술 ‘하이렉스(HyREX)’를 소개한다. 한국형 수소환원제철 기술은 올해 6월 정부의 국가연구개발사업평가 예비타당성 조사를 통과했다. 포스코그룹은 2030년까지 수소환원제철 상용화 기술 개발을 완료한다는 계획이다.
브릿지 기술 존에서는 저탄소 연원료 활용, 전기로 도입, CCUS(탄소포집·저장·활용) 실증 기술을, 인텔리전트 팩토리 존에서는 AI 기반의 스마트 고로, 지능형 로봇 활용 기술 등을 다채롭게 공개한다. 특히 인텔리전트 팩토리 존에서는 작업자가 접근하기 어려운 곳에서 설비 점검을 하는 ‘4족 보행 로봇’을 직접 만나볼 수 있다.
마지막으로 그룹의 에너지·소재 사업 역량을 종합 소개하는 에너지 전환 존도 주목할 만하다. 수소혼소발전소로 단계적 전환을 추진 중인 포스코인터내셔널 인천 LNG 복합 발전소를 비롯해 포스코가 개발·공급하는 에너지저장장치(ESS)용 고내식 합금도금강판 포스맥(PosMAC), LNG·액화수소 탱크용 고망간강 등 다양한 에너지 강재의 상세 내용을 전시한다.
한편, 포스코그룹은 탈탄소 전환을 그룹의 미래 성장 동력을 강화하는 전략적 기회로 인식하고 기술 개발, 설비 투자, 에너지 조달 등 전 과정에서 체계적인 탈탄소 전략 이행을 통해 지속가능한 성장 기반을 공고히 다져 나갈 계획이다.

The Hydrogen Reduction Ironmaking Zone showcases "HyREX," a Korean-style hydrogen reduction ironmaking technology that uses hydrogen instead of coal as a reducing agent, dramatically reducing carbon dioxide emissions. This Korean-style hydrogen reduction ironmaking technology passed the government's preliminary feasibility study for the National Research and Development Project Evaluation in June of this year. POSCO Group plans to complete the development of commercial hydrogen reduction ironmaking technology by 2030.
The Bridge Technology Zone will showcase low-carbon fuel utilization, electric furnace adoption, and carbon capture, storage, and utilization (CCUS) demonstration technologies. The Intelligent Factory Zone will showcase a variety of technologies, including AI-based smart blast furnaces and intelligent robots. In particular, visitors can experience the "quadruped walking robot" that performs facility inspections in difficult-to-reach locations.
Finally, the Energy Transition Zone, which comprehensively showcases the group's energy and materials business capabilities, is also noteworthy.
