선린대 응급구조과, 해양경찰 항공대 현장 견학 실시

응급구조과는 지난 28일(목) 동해지방해양경찰청 포항항공대를 방문해 해양항공구조대 현장 견학을 진행했다. 이번 견학에는 3학년 재학생 30여 명이 참여해 해양 재난 상황에서의 인명 구조 및 응급처치 시스템을 직접 체험하며 해양 응급구조 전문가로서의 비전을 구체화하는 시간을 가졌다.

학생들은 포항항공대 소개와 구조·구급 활동 영상을 시청한 뒤, 헬리콥터(카모프, 팬더) 및 최신 구조·구급 장비에 대한 설명을 들으며 해양 특수 환경에서의 구조 활동을 이해했다. 이어 구조훈련장에서 응급환자 구조 및 응급처치 시연을 참관하고, 헬기 내부에 탑승해 환자 이송 장치(EMS)와 자동심폐소생기를 활용한 응급처치 실습을 경험하며 긴박한 현장의 분위기를 체감했다.

현진숙 응급구조과 학과장은 “이번 견학은 학생들이 책으로만 접하던 해양 응급의료 시스템을 직접 체험하며 전문가로 성장하는 데 큰 동기부여가 됐다”며 “앞으로도 해양경찰과의 협력을 확대해 해양 안전을 책임질 핵심 인재를 양성하겠다”고 말했다.

현장에 참여한 박소민 학생(3학년)도 “TV에서만 보던 해양경찰 구조 활동을 직접 보니 가슴이 벅찼다”며 “특수 환경에서의 응급 대응 중요성을 몸소 느낄 수 있었고, 이번 경험이 해양경찰 분야 진로를 준비하는 데 큰 계기가 됐다”고 소감을 전했다.

한편, 올해 개설 30주년을 맞은 선린대 응급구조과는 그동안 해양경찰 분야로 다수의 전문 인재를 배출해 왔으며, 오는 10월 해양경찰항공대와 협약을 체결하고 다양한 현장 중심 교육 프로그램을 운영해 해양 응급의료 전문인재 양성을 강화할 계획이다.

Sunlin University's (President Kwak Jin-hwan) Emergency Rescue Department visited the Korea Coast Guard Aviation Academy to strengthen its students' practical skills and career aspirations.

On Thursday, the 28th, the Emergency Rescue Department visited the Pohang Aviation Academy of the East Sea Regional Coast Guard for a field trip to the Korea Coast Guard Aviation Academy. Approximately 30 third-year students participated in the tour, experiencing firsthand the rescue and emergency response systems in maritime disaster situations and solidifying their vision as maritime emergency rescue experts.

After watching a video introducing Pohang Aviation Academy and its rescue and emergency response activities, the students learned about helicopters (Kamov and Panther) and the latest rescue and emergency response equipment, gaining a deeper understanding of rescue operations in the unique marine environment. They then observed emergency patient rescue and first aid demonstrations at the rescue training center. They then boarded a helicopter and experienced emergency response using an EMS (Emergency Medical Service) and an automated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), gaining a firsthand understanding of the urgency of the situation.

Hyun Jin-sook, head of the Department of Emergency Medical Services, said, "This field trip provided students with a firsthand experience of the maritime emergency medical system, something they had only seen in books, and it greatly motivated them to grow as experts. We will continue to expand our collaboration with the Coast Guard to cultivate key personnel responsible for maritime safety."

Park So-min (third-year), who participated in the field trip, shared her thoughts, saying, "It was truly inspiring to see the Coast Guard rescue operations in person, something I had only seen on TV. I was able to personally experience the importance of emergency response in special environments, and this experience was a significant catalyst for me in preparing for a career in the Coast Guard."

Meanwhile, the Department of Emergency Medical Services at Sunlin University, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, has produced numerous professionals in the Coast Guard field. In October, the department signed an agreement with the Coast Guard Aviation Unit to operate various field-oriented training programs to strengthen the training of maritime emergency medical professionals.
