“정부, 경주시민 희생 무시말라”…동경주 주민들 상경 집회 연다

【브레이크뉴스 경주】박영재 기자=경주시의회 국책사업추진 및 원전특별위원회(위원장 오상도)는 1일 경주시 원전범시민대책위원회, 동경주발전협의회와 함께 기존 건식저장시설 지원 방안 명문화 및 중·저준위 방사성폐기물 지원수수료 약속이행을 촉구하는 공동 성명서를 발표했다.

경주시 의회에 따르면 이번 성명서에는 최근 제정된 고준위 특별법의 후속 시행령 입법예고안에 기존 설치·운영 중인 건식저장시설(캐니스터·맥스터)에 대한 보상방안이 반영되지 않았고,중·저준위 방폐장 유치 당시 매년 85억원의 지원수수료를 지원하기로 약속했으나, 실제로는 방폐물 반입 지연으로 연 16억원에 불과한점 등이 포함됐다.

이날 성명서 발표에 참석한 한 시민은 “우리 경주시는 국가에너지 정책을 위해 많은 부담을 치르고있다”며 “더 이상 경주시민의 희생을 무시하고 정당한 보상방안을 마련하지 않을 시 방폐물 반입을 막는 등 행동에 나설 것”이라고 말했다.

오상도 경주시의회 국책사업추진 및 원전특별위원회 위원장은 “정부는 현재 설치된 건식저장시설에 대한 보상방안을 명문화하고, 기존의 약속대로 매년 85억원의 방폐물 반입에 따른 지원금을 지원해야 한다”며 “우리 경주시의회는 경주시민의 희생과 헌신이 제대로 보상받을 수 있도록 적극 노력해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 오는 3일 동경주 주민 천여 명이 산업통상자원부 앞에서 기존 건식저장시설 보상 방안에 대해 집회를 가질 예정이다.

Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 residents of Donggyeongju are scheduled to hold a rally in front of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on the 3rd to discuss compensation plans for the existing dry storage facilities.
