이번 사업은 의료 사각지대 해소를 위해 추진되며, 진주시에 거주하는 40세 이상 취약계층이 대상으로 검진비 6만5000원 전액을 시에서 지원한다.
대상자는 의료급여 수급자 또는 건강보험료 하위 50% 이하인 시민으로 기준은 직장가입자 월 12만7500원, 지역가입자 월 5만7000원 이하다.
검진 항목은 남성과 여성 각각 5종이며, 전립선암(남), 난소암(여), 갑상선 기능검사, 심전도, 동맥경화도, 골밀도 검사 등을 포함한다.
검진은 진주 관내 지정병원인 고려병원, 반도병원, 세란병원, 제일병원에서 받을 수 있으며 예약 없이 방문하면 검진을 받을 수는 없으며 사전 신청이 필요하다.
