[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해시의 공식 캐릭터 ‘토더기’가 '2025 대한민국 지자체·공공 캐릭터 페스티벌 공모전'에서 영예의 대상을 수상하며 지역을 넘어 전국적인 인기 캐릭터로 우뚝 섰다.
문화체육관광부가 후원하고 한국문화콘텐츠라이센싱협회와 대전관광공사가 주관하는 이번 공모전은 전국 지자체와 공공기관의 캐릭터를 발굴하고 알리는 국내 최대 규모의 행사다.
김해시 대표 캐릭터인 '토더기'는 이번 수상으로 특별한 매력을 다시 한번 입증했다. 금관가야의 유물인 '오리모양 토기'를 모티브로 탄생한 '토더기'는, 가야시대 '영혼의 안내자'이자 '풍요를 가져다주는 길조'로 여겨졌던 오리의 의미를 현대적으로 재해석한 캐릭터로, 김해시의 비전인 '살고 싶은 행복도시'를 '연결'과 '소통'이라는 메시지로 효과적으로 전달하고 있다.
