【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=대경대(총장 이채영)가 유학생 1,000명 시대를 공식 개막했다고 3일 밝혔다.
지난 1일 디자인동대공연장에서 유학생을 위한 특별한 입학식이 ‘K-대경대 글로벌 문화콘텐츠’를 주제로 진행됐다.
행사에는 베트남, 우즈벡, 몽골, 키르기스스탄, 카자흐스탄, 콩고, 러시아, 스리랑카, 네팔 등 9개국 출신 유학생 238명이 전통춤과 악기 연주, 패션쇼 등 각국 문화를 선보이며 축제 분위기를 만들었다.
대경대 실용음악과와 태권도과 재학생들의 공연도 입학식의 볼거리를 더했다. 행사는 유학생 학부모와 가족들이 줌과 유튜브를 통해 실시간으로 참여할 수 있도록 해, 현장과 온라인을 잇는 소통의 장도 마련됐다.
베트남 유학생 18명으로 구성된 아오자이 패션쇼는 특히 눈길을 끌었다. 유학생 대표 쩐티미 학생은 “유학생활 중에도 아오이를 입으며 베트남을 잊지 않았다”며 “졸업 후 하노이에서 K-메이크업 뷰티숍을 운영하고 싶다”고 말했다.
이번 입학식에 참여한 유학생들은 글로벌호텔크루즈과, 메이크업전공, K-푸드전공 등 실용적이고 창업에 유리한 학과에 포진돼 있다.
현재 경북·대구지역 대학과 전문대의 외국인 유학생은 1만9,867명으로, 지난해보다 5,504명(38.32%) 증가했다.
대경대는 2~3년제 대학 중 경북권에서 1,025명으로 가장 많았다.
김원식 국제협력총괄본부장은 “유학생 만족도가 높은 만큼, 입학 경쟁률도 재학생 못지않다”고 평가했다. 박태욱 국제교류팀장은 “1:1 생활 밀착 관리와 맞춤형 프로그램을 통해 전공과 생활 적응을 돕고 있다”고 덧붙였다.
이채영 총장은 “대경대는 호텔조리, 관광서비스, 뷰티, 메이크업 등 현지에서도 취업과 창업에 강점을 가진 특성화 학과를 갖추고 있다”며 “앞으로 유학생 지원을 강화해 2,000명 시대를 앞당기겠다”고 말했다.

The ao dai fashion show featuring 18 Vietnamese students was particularly noteworthy. Tran Thi My, a representative of international students, said, "I never forgot Vietnam, even while wearing Aoi during my time abroad. I want to run a K-makeup beauty shop in Hanoi after graduation."
International students who attended this year's entrance ceremony are enrolled in practical and entrepreneurial departments, such as the Global Hotel and Cruise Management Department, Makeup, and K-Food Department.
Currently, there are 19,867 international students at universities and technical colleges in the Gyeongbuk and Daegu regions, an increase of 5,504 (38.32%) from last year.
Daekyung University had the highest number of international students in the Gyeongbuk region, with 1,025 among two- and three-year universities.
Kim Won-sik, Director of the International Cooperation Office, commented, "International student satisfaction is high, and the admissions competition is just as fierce as that of current students." Park Tae-wook, Director of the International Exchange Team, added, "We are helping international students adjust to their majors and daily life through one-on-one support and customized programs."
President Lee Chae-young said, “Daekyung University has specialized departments that are strong in local employment and entrepreneurship, such as hotel cooking, tourism service, beauty, and makeup,” and added, “We will strengthen support for international students in the future to bring forward the era of 2,000 students.”
