【브레이크뉴스 】진예솔 기자=달성군이 교육부 주관 자기주도학습센터 공모사업에서 대구 지역에서 유일하게 선정됐다고 3일 밝혔다.
이번 선정은 사교육비 부담을 줄이기 위한 달성군의 적극적인 교육환경 개선 노력이 반영된 결과다.
자기주도학습센터는 학생들에게 스스로 공부할 수 있는 공간과 프로그램을 제공하는 공공관리형 스터디카페로, 올해 교육부에서 처음 실시한 사업이다.
달성군은 평소 달성교육재단과 대구경북과학기술원, 국립대구과학관 등과 연계해 과학창의학교, 영어방학캠프 등 방과후 자기주도학습 프로그램을 운영하며 교육 여건 개선을 꾸준히 추진해왔다.
특히 오는 8일 정식 운영되는 달성중 학교복합시설 ‘달성이룸캠프’에는 설계 단계부터 자기주도학습실이 마련됐다. 2층에 개방형·모둠형 학습실과 휴게실 등 5개 학습실, 총 100평 규모의 특화공간이 조성됐다.
이번 공모 선정으로 달성군은 관내 중·고등학생을 대상으로 한국교육방송공사 온라인 학습콘텐츠를 무료 제공하고, 전문 학습코디네이터의 개별 학습 지도도 지원할 계획이다.
또한 한국장학재단 대학생 멘토링사업과 연계해 영어, 수학 등 주요 과목 1대1 온라인 멘토링과 학부모 진로상담교실, 달성수학캠프, 초등학생 독서교실 등 다양한 프로그램도 운영한다.
달성이룸캠프는 2023년 교육부 학교복합시설 공모 선정에 이어 자기주도학습센터 공모까지 연달아 선정되며 2관왕을 달성했다.
학생들에게는 교과 연계 체험과 방과후 학습 공간을 제공하고, 주민들에게는 청년 역량 강화와 기업·일자리 지원, 휴식 공간을 제공할 계획이다.
최재훈 달성군수는 “학생들이 학원가를 따라 도심으로 이동하지 않도록 교육환경을 개선하고, 사교육 부담을 줄이는 데 최선을 다하겠다”며 “앞으로 권역별 자기주도학습센터를 확대 설치해 교육 현장을 적극 지원할 것”이라고 말했다.

Dalseong County has consistently pursued improvements to its educational environment by operating after-school self-directed learning programs, such as the Science Creativity School and English Vacation Camp, in partnership with the Dalseong Education Foundation, the Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology, and the National Daegu Science Museum.
Notably, the "Dalseong Room Camp," a complex facility in Dalseong Middle School that officially opens on the 8th, was designed with self-directed learning rooms in mind from the very beginning. The second floor features five study rooms, including open and group study rooms and a lounge, and a specialized space totaling 100 pyeong (approximately 330 square meters).
With this selection, Dalseong County plans to provide free access to online learning content from the Korean Educational Broadcasting System (EBS) to middle and high school students in the county, along with individualized learning guidance from professional learning coordinators.
Furthermore, in conjunction with the Korea Student Aid Foundation's College Student Mentoring Program, the county will operate a variety of programs, including one-on-one online mentoring in core subjects like English and math, career counseling classes for parents, the Dalseong Math Camp, and reading classes for elementary school students.
The Dalseong Irum Camp has achieved double success, winning the 2023 Ministry of Education School Complex Facility Competition and the Self-Directed Learning Center Competition.
Students will be provided with curriculum-related experiences and after-school study spaces, while residents will benefit from youth capacity building, support for businesses and jobs, and a space for relaxation.
Choi Jae-hoon, Dalseong County Governor, stated, "We will do our utmost to improve the educational environment and reduce the burden of private education so that students do not migrate to the city center following the academy districts. We will actively support the educational field by expanding the number of self-directed learning centers in each region."
