브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= KT&G가 심각한 가뭄 피해를 겪고 있는 강원도 강릉 지역을 돕기 위해 성금 1억 원을 지원한다.
이번 성금은 가뭄으로 생계와 생활에 어려움을 겪고 있는 강릉 소재의 농가와 주민들의 피해 복구를 위해 사용된다. 대한적십자사를 통해 전달되는 기부금 1억 원은 생수 20만여 병 공급 등 재해 지원에 활용될 예정이다.
기부금은 KT&G 임직원들이 자발적으로 참여해 조성한 기부성금인 ‘상상펀드’에서 마련됐다. 상상펀드는 2011년 출범한 KT&G의 사회공헌기금으로 임직원들이 매월 급여의 일정 금액을 자발적으로 기부하면 회사가 동일한 금액을 더하는 매칭 그랜트 형태로 조성된다.
심영아 KT&G ESG경영실장은 “피해 지역의 조속한 정상화와 주민분들의 빠른 일상생활 복귀를 기원한다”며 “가뭄 피해 지역에 대한 지속적인 관심과 함께 실질적인 도움을 드릴 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
