지난 7월 집중호우로 막대한 피해를 입어 특별재난지역으로 선포된 당진시가 피해 주민들의 경제적 부담을 덜어주기 위해 상하수도 요금 감면 정책을 시행한다.
이번 조치는 별도의 신청 절차 없이 피해 사실이 확정된 약 1700여 가구에 자동으로 적용될 예정이다.
특별재난지역은 대규모 재난이 발생했을 때 국가의 추가적인 지원이 필요하다고 인정되어 선포되는 지역이다.
정부는 재난의 규모와 피해액을 종합적으로 고려하여 특별재난지역을 지정한다. 이 지역으로 지정되면 복구에 필요한 비용의 일부를 국비로 추가 지원받을 수 있으며, 주민들은 세금 감면, 공공요금 면제 등 다양한 혜택을 받게 된다.
