[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 부산지역 중학교 2곳에 폭발물이 설치됐다는 협박 팩스가 도착해 경찰과 소방이 출동하는 소동이 벌어졌으나, 다행히 특이 위험물은 발견되지 않았다.
경찰에 따르면 8일 오전 9시 30분께 북구 A중학교에 “폭발물을 설치했다”는 내용의 협박 팩스가 도착했다. 학교 측은 오전 10시 13분경 이를 112에 신고했고, 북부경찰서는 초동대응팀 등 30여 명의 인력을 긴급 출동시켰다. 경찰은 학교 관계자들과 함께 교내외를 수색하는 한편, 학생과 교직원 등 560여 명을 10시 45분께 긴급 대피시켰다. 약 한 시간에 걸친 수색 끝에 특이한 위험물이 발견되지 않아 학생들은 11시 35분경 복귀했고, 경찰은 오전 11시 50분경 현장을 종결했다.
이어 같은 날 오전 9시 30분경 수영구 B중학교에도 유사한 협박 팩스가 도착했다. 이 학교 역시 오전 10시 17분께 112에 신고했고, 출동한 수영경찰서 초동대응팀과 인력 30여 명이 교내외를 수색했다. 이곳에서도 폭발물은 발견되지 않아 경찰은 오전 11시 10분경 상황을 마무리했다.
■경찰 “발신 경로 추적 중”
경찰은 두 사건이 동일 시각에 발생한 점에 주목하고 있다. 협박 내용과 수법이 유사한 만큼 동일인이 연루됐을 가능성이 크다고 보고, 발신 경로와 작성자를 추적 중이다. 경찰 관계자는 “두 건 모두 특이한 위험물은 발견되지 않았으며 학생들의 안전을 위해 신속히 대응했다”며 “협박 팩스의 발신 경위와 신원을 추적 중”이라고 밝혔다

이번 협박 소동은 실제 폭발물이 발견되지 않았음에도 교육 현장에 큰 충격을 남겼다. 갑작스러운 대피로 수업이 중단된 것은 물론, 학생과 학부모들은 “언제든지 비슷한 위협이 또 발생할 수 있다”는 불안감을 호소하고 있다. 특히 최근 온라인상에서 모방 위협이 늘고 있는 상황과 맞물리며 학교 안전 대책에 대한 사회적 논의가 불가피할 전망이다.
■ "잇따른 ‘허위 위협’…혼란 막대, 강력 대응해야"
전문가들은 이번 사건이 ‘허위 협박’일 가능성에 무게를 두고 있다. 그러나 허위라 하더라도 사회적 비용과 혼란은 막대하다. 실제로 경찰과 소방 인력 수십 명이 투입되고, 학생 수백 명이 대피하는 과정에서 교육 정상화에도 상당한 차질이 빚어졌다.
