브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 기아는 지난 7일 서울 영등포구 콘래드 호텔에서 ‘하모니움 교육 프로그램’ 1기 수료식 및 2기 입학식 행사를 개최했다고 9일 밝혔다.
이날 행사에는 1기 수료생들과 2기 입학생 및 학부모들을 비롯해 기아 지속가능경영실장 이덕현 상무, 경기도 이민사회국 김원규 국장 등 관계자 150여명이 참석했다.
‘하모니움’은 국내 다문화 청소년의 사회·경제적 자립 지원 및 다문화 수용성 향상을 위해 지난해 새롭게 런칭한 사회공헌 사업이다.
하모니움 교육 프로그램은 다문화 청소년들의 진로 계획 수립과 직무 경험을 통해 실질적인 취업 및 창업 역량 강화의 기회를 제공하기 위한 프로그램으로, 지난 4월 1기 교육생을 모집하며 시작됐다.
1기 교육생들은 다문화 청소년들의 선호 영역에 대한 전문가 자문을 거쳐 선정한 4가지 특화 교육영역(△IT기술 △F&B △영상편집 △조경기술)을 대상으로, 진로 설계에 도움이 되는 다양한 교육 커리큘럼과 실습 과정을 경험했다.
이후 특화 교육 영역의 소셜벤처들과 연계한 인턴십 프로그램, 다문화 선배 초청 특강, 오토랜드 견학 및 개인 프로필 촬영 등의 특별 프로그램을 진행했다.
수료식에서는 1기 교육생들이 참여 소감을 나누고 인턴십 기업 관계자, 다문화 전문가들이 함께 성장 과정에 대해 이야기하는 ‘하모니움 톡’ 행사, 우수 수료자 5명에 대한 장학금 시상식이 진행됐다.
이어진 2기 입학식에서는 교육생들의 새로운 시작을 격려하는 영상을 시청했다. 특히, 1기 수료생들이 2기 교육생들에게 하모니움 교육 프로그램을 통해 성장하기 바라는 마음을 담은 응원의 메시지를 전달하기도 했다.
아울러 다문화 배경을 가진 가수 이미쉘을 초청해 다문화 후배들에게 본인의 경험을 공유하고, 적극적인 미래를 개척하라는 메시지를 담은 특별 강연과 공연을 진행했다.
하모니움 교육 프로그램은 상반기와 하반기 각 25명의 다문화 청소년을 대상으로 진행한다. 상반기는 올해 4~8월까지, 하반기는 9월부터 2026년 2월까지 운영할 계획이다.
기아 지속가능경영실장 이덕현 상무는 “하모니움 교육 프로그램을 통해 학생들이 본인의 진료를 수립하는 것은 물론, 나아가 대한민국의 건강한 사회 구성원으로 성장할 수 있길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 다문화 청소년들을 진정성 있게 지원해 우리 사회의 당당한 일원으로 성장할 수 있도록 돕겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 기아는 ‘인류의 안전하고, 자유롭고, 지속가능한 삶에 기여한다’는 사회공헌 미션 아래 국내외에서 다양한 사회공헌 사업을 펼치고 있다.
국내에서는 △장애인 이동권 향상을 위한 ‘초록여행’ △갯벌 생태보호를 위한 염생식물을 식재하고 연구하는 ‘갯벌식생복원’ △‘가축분뇨 친환경처리’ 등을 진행하고 있다. 해외에서는 △도움이 필요한 지역사회의 자립 지원을 위한 ‘그린라이트 프로젝트’(GreenLight Project) △해양 폐플라스틱을 수거하여 재자원화하는 ‘오션클린업’(The Ocean Cleanup) 등을 이어가고 있다.
