중앙일보는 지난 9월11일자 “주중대사에 노태우 장남 노재헌…부친은 한·중수교 주역” 제목의 기사에서 “33년 전 한·중 수교의 첫발을 내디뎠던 노태우 전 대통령의 장남 노재헌(60) 동아시아문화재단 이사장이 이재명 정부의 첫 주중대사로 내정됐다”고 보도했다.
이어 이 신문은 “이 대통령이 노 이사장을 주중대사에 임명한 것은 다소 소원해진 한·중 관계를 복원하기 위한 차원으로 해석된다”고 덧붙였다.

필자는 지난 2019년 8월, 일본을 방문했었다. 이 때 하토야마 유키오 전 일본 수상을 만나는 자리에서, 노재헌 씨를 만나 하토야마 전 총리와 더불어 1박2일을 보낸 적이 있다.
이 때 필자가 받은 인상은, 노재헌 씨가 12-12 군사 쿠데타(1979년) 주역인 노태우 장군(전 대통령)의 아들이라는 선입견은 있었으나, 그의 정치적인 식견(識見)이나 인품은 대단하다는 인상을 받았다. 그는 영어-일어-중국어도 유창하게 구사, 외교관 자질을 갖췄다.
미중관계의 악화로 한중 관계가 최악의 상황이다. 이재명 정권이 기왕 그(노재헌)를 주요 국가(중국)의 외교관으로 임명했으니, 국익을 창출하는데 기여해 주었으면 한다.
유럽에는 EU가 있다. 아시아도 뭉쳐야 한다! 이 시대, 아시아의 대 결속, 혁명이 필요하다. 아시아 사람들도 EU사람들처럼, 비자 없이 아시아 국가들을 상호 오가게 해야 한다. 북한도 비자없이 오가고 싶도다. 남북 이산가족 문제, 인류 역사상 이런, 가장 더러운-추악한 일은 빨리 청산돼야 한다.
그가 주중대사로 취임하면, 중국과 함께 아시아유니온(AU)을 창립하는, AU의 산파역할을 했으면? 기대한다. 군사 쿠데타 장군의 아들답게, 아시아를 혁명(革命)하는데 공헌하시길! "이 날, 대게를 잡아 맛있게 냠냠했습니다!"
