(브레이크뉴스 광주·전남) 이학수 기자=전남 담양에 국내 최초의 정원 전문 기관인 '국립정원문화원' 이 문을 열고 본격적인 운영에 들어갔다.
정원 문화 산업 진흥과 정원 관광 활성화를 위한 선도적 거점 역할을 수행할 것으로 기대를 모으고 있다.
국립정원문화원 개원은 전남도의 오랜 노력 끝에 이뤄낸 값진 성과이다. 당초 지방 시설로 검토되던 이 사업은, 전남도의 지속적인 필요성 제기와 중앙정부 설득 노력에 힘입어 2021년 국가 사업으로 최종 반영됐다.
18일 열린 개원식에는 이미라 산림청 차장, 이개호 국회의원, 정철원 담양군수 등 주요 인사와 국내 정원 단체장 등 300여 명이 참석해 개원을 축하했다.
도의회 일정으로 참석하지 못한 김영록 전남도지사는 영상 메시지를 통해 "한국 정원문화의 뿌리인 담양에서 국립정원문화원이 문을 연 것을 진심으로 축하한다"며, "앞으로 국립정원문화원과 함께 K-가든의 새 시대를 활짝 열어가겠다"고 전했다.
국립정원문화원은 ▲미래 정원 인재 양성 ▲국민 참여형 정원 문화 서비스 강화 ▲K-가든의 글로벌 선도라는 3대 중점 전략을 추진한다. 특히 정원 전문가 양성을 위한 자격 제도 도입과 표준화를 추진하고, 국민이 쉽게 참여할 수 있는 다양한 정원 관련 콘텐츠와 프로그램을 확대할 방침이다.
또한, 국제 정원 네트워크를 구축해 세계 속에서 K-가든의 위상을 높이는 데 주력할 예정입니다. 이를 통해 전남이 대한민국 정원 문화의 수도로 도약할 수 있는 발판을 마련한다는 계획이다.
전남도는 이미 뉴욕한국문화원에서 담양 소쇄원을 주제로 정원을 선보이는 등 남도 정원의 우수성을 국내외에 널리 알려왔다.
