대구시교육청은 행정예고 등 후속 절차를 거쳐 2026학년도 신입생부터 적용할 계획이다.
그동안 수성4가동 일부 지역은 통·반 주소에 따라 5개 초등학교로 통학구역이 나뉘고, 행정구역이 다른 삼덕초와 동인초까지 포함되면서 학생들이 다리를 건너거나 대로를 횡단해야 하는 위험한 통학환경에 놓여 있었다.
이 문제는 2016년 이후 지역사회와 정치권의 꾸준한 요구로 지속적으로 논의돼 왔다.
이번 조정안은 수성1가동 2~4통, 5통, 22통을 동일 초등학교로, 수성4가동 3~4통, 12통, 16~20통도 동일 초등학교로 통합하는 내용을 담고 있다.
이를 통해 학생들의 통학 여건이 합리적으로 개선되고, 지역사회의 오랜 요구가 가시적인 성과로 이어질 것으로 기대된다.
대구시교육청은 협의회 결과를 바탕으로 최소 20일 이상 행정예고를 실시해 주민 의견을 수렴한 뒤 최종 확정·고시 절차를 진행할 예정이다.
