국민의 힘 김정재 의원이 한국도로공사로부터 제출받은 ‘토지 무단점유 현황’에 따르면, 최근 5년간 도로공 무단점유부지 크기는 2020년 13만㎡에서 44만㎡로 3.4배 증가했고, 무단 점유 필지도 625필지에서 2483필지로 4배가 늘었다. 최근 5년간 무단점유부지는 총 5274필지, 30만평(100만㎡)에 달했다.
점유자 유형을 살펴보면, 신원미상의 점유 건이 2020년 19건에서 2024년 1586건으로 폭발적으로 증가, 무단점유에 대한 사용료를 부과·징수하는데 어려움이 있는 상황이다.
