충남 서산시가 대한민국 지방자치단체 행정대상에서 2년 연속 수상의 성과를 올리며 ‘친환경·에너지 선도 도시’로 위상을 굳혔다.
서산시는 2025 대한민국 지방자치단체 행정대상에서 기초 지자체 가운데 친환경·에너지 부문 단독 대상을 받았다고 23일 밝혔다.
지난해 문화·관광진흥 부문 수상에 이어 2년 연속 이름을 올리며 행정 역량을 다시 한 번 입증했다. 특히 올해는 충남도 내 기초 지자체 중 서산시가 유일하게 수상자로 선정됐다.
대한민국 지방자치단체 행정대상은 지역 발전과 혁신 사례를 공유하고 우수 정책을 알리기 위해 마련된 행사다. 이데일리가 주최하고 행정안전부 및 국회 행정안전위원회가 후원한다.
서산시는 이번 평가에서 아시아·태평양 최초 지속가능항공유 종합실증센터 유치 ,전국 두 번째 탄소포집활용(CCU) 실증지원센터 구축 ,제3기 수소도시 사업 선정 등 굵직한 에너지·환경 정책 성과를 높이 평가받았다.
이는 석유화학산업 의존도를 낮추고 국가 에너지 정책 기조에 맞춘 저탄소·친환경 신산업 전환 기반을 마련한 결과라는 분석이다.
이완섭 서산시장은 “석유화학산업의 위기를 극복하기 위해 에너지 전환과 미래 전략 산업을 적극 추진해 왔다”며 “앞으로도 친환경 산업과 탄소중립 정책을 통해 서산을 지속 가능한 성장 도시이자 대한민국을 대표하는 탄소중립 선도 도시로 만들어 가겠다”고 밝혔다.
