범대본은 “이번 형사재판은 단순한 형사처벌을 넘어, 진행 중인 민사소송의 핵심 입증자료가 될 것”이라며 “포항시민 피해에 대한 정의로운 판결이 반드시 내려져야 한다”고 밝혔다.
재판에 앞서 범대본은 포항지원 앞에서 기자회견을 열고 “사회정의 실현을 위해 촉발지진 책임자들을 반드시 법정에 세워야 한다”며 시민들의 관심과 참여를 호소했다.
