부천시에 따르면, 서부수도권행정협의회(이하 협의회)는 서부수도권 지역의 공동 현안 해결과 균형 발전을 목적으로 1993년 구성됐으며, 현재 부천시를 포함해 김포시, 광명시, 인천 계양구·서구·강화군, 서울 강서구·양천구 등 8개 도시가 활동하고 있다.
