이종찬 회장은 “‘일제강점기 우리 민족의 국적은 일본’, ‘광복은 연합국의 선물’, ‘일본의 패망으로 우리가 해방됐다’를 운운한 김형석 관장은 독립기념관장으로서 자격이 없다”고 직격 비판했다.
이 회장은 “더욱이 지금 그 사람으로 인해 독립기념관 기능이 마비되고 있는데, 해임권한을 가진 대통령이 해임을 하기 전에 본인이 양식 있는 이라면, 스스로 (자리를) 내려놓는 것이 맞다”며 용퇴를 강력 촉구했다.
한편, 광복회는 오는 26일(금) 오전 10시 30분부터 ‘세계사의 보편적 가치와 한국독립운동’이라는 주제로 서울 서대문구에 위치한 국립대한민국임시정부기념관 의정원 홀에서 국제학술 심포지엄을 개최한다.
광복회학술원과 한국근현대사학회가 공동으로 주관하는 이번 국제학술 심포지엄은 기조강연과 주제발표, 종합토론 순서로 진행된다. 기조강연은 한시준 단국대 명예교수가 ‘한국독립운동의 세계사적 위상과 성격’이라는 주제로 할 예정이다. 제1주제는 ‘한국독립운동과 민주공화주의’라는 주제로 황선익 국민대 교수가, 제2주제는 ‘일본에서의 안중근의 동양 평화론에 관한 연구동향’이라는 주제로 가츠무라 마코토 일본 리쓰메이칸대학 교수가 맡는다.
3주제는 ‘한반도 통일, 세계평화의 관점에서 본 한국독립운동’ 이라는 주제로 레오니드 A. 페트로프 호주국립대학 교수가, 제4주제는 ‘한국독립운동에서의 한중연대와 세계사적 의미’라는 주제로 임찬혁 중국 연변대 교수가, 제5주제는 ‘여성인권과 양성평등의 관점에서 본 한국독립운동’이라는 주제로 김성은 대구한의대 교수가 각각 발표할 예정이다.
