브레이크뉴스 노보림 기자= 문화체육관광부와 한국공예·디자인문화진흥원은 옛 서울역 준공 100주년을 맞아 특별기획전 《백년과 하루: 기억에서 상상으로》를 9월 30일부터 11월 30일까지 문화역서울284 전관과 서울역 주변 야외공간(커넥트플레이스)에서 개최한다고 밝혔다.
1925년 경성역으로 개관한 옛 서울역은 해방, 한국전쟁, 민주화, 산업화 등 대한민국 근현대사의 주요 전환기를 함께한 상징적 건축물이다. 2011년 복원 이후 복합문화공간 ‘문화역서울284’로 재탄생해 다양한 문화·예술 교류의 장으로 자리잡았다.
이번 전시는 옛 서울역의 100년을 돌아보고 미래 100년을 상상하는 내용으로, 세 개 섹션으로 구성된다. 첫 번째 섹션에서는 서울역의 역사적 전환점을 담은 사진과 현대 예술작품, 소장품 및 영상자료를 통해 100년의 기억을 조명한다.
두 번째 섹션은 과거와 현재가 만나는 공간으로, 옛 서울역의 맥주바와 커피숍, 서양에서 유입된 디저트·패션·가구 등을 현대 브랜드와 협업해 재해석하고, 관람객이 체험과 시음을 즐길 수 있는 프로그램을 마련했다.
마지막 섹션에서는 참여형 전시를 통해 서울역의 미래 100년을 상상한다. 조선말큰사전 원고, 에세이·소설·수필·시 등 문학작품을 전시하고, 독립서점과 협력한 100여 권의 도서를 비치해 관람객이 자유롭게 읽으며 미래를 상상할 수 있도록 구성했다.
서울역 외부공간에서는 한화커넥트와 협력해 옛 서울역과 현 서울역을 연결하는 <미디어 헤리티지> 전시 등 다채로운 볼거리를 제공한다.
장동광 한국공예·디자인문화진흥원 원장은 “이번 100주년 특별전은 국민이 함께 옛 서울역의 기억을 돌아보고 미래를 상상할 수 있는 열린 문화축제가 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.
