중구는 여성가족부가 주관한 '가족센터 건립 공모사업'에 최종 선정됐다고 29일 밝혔다.
그동안 임차 건물에서 운영되던 가족센터가 공공성 확보와 공간 활용에 어려움을 겪어왔던 만큼, 이번 사업비 확보는 의미가 크다.
중구청은 신축 이전을 앞둔 동인동 행정복지센터의 빈 건물을 새 보금자리로 정했다. 리모델링을 거쳐 가족센터로 탈바꿈시킬 계획이다.
내년 설계를 시작으로 2027년 상반기 공사에 들어가고, 같은 해 하반기에는 이전을 마무리한다는 목표다.
최근 27년 만에 인구 10만 명을 회복한 중구는 달라진 모습에 걸맞은 변화를 준비하고 있다. 가족 구성이 다양해지고 다문화가정이 늘어나는 추세에 맞춰 주민 맞춤형 가족 서비스를 대폭 늘릴 방침이다.
류규하 중구청장은 "이번 공모사업 선정과 국비 확보로 가족 복지 수준이 크게 나아질 것"이라며 "10만 구민 모두가 좋은 가족 지원 서비스를 누릴 수 있도록 꼼꼼히 준비하겠다"고 말했다.
