이런 시기에 양기대 전 의원의 거대한 꿈, 즉 남북고속철도 개설 준비가 눈에 들어온다.
필자는 지난 10월3일 저녁, 양기대 전 의원님과 저녁을 함께 했다. 그[제21대 국회의원(경기 광명을)/국회 기획재정•행정안전위원회 위원/민주연구원 상임부원장/민주당 남북고속철도 추진 특위 위원장, 정책위 상임부의장/재선 광명시장/우석대 석좌교수(현)]는 주요한 요직을 두루 거쳤다. 필자의 직업과 연관, 동아일보 기자(정치부)출신이라는 것에 큰 무게를 둔다. 양 전 의원은 정치인으로서, 멀리보고 행동해온 정치인이다. 그는 남북고속철도와 동북아 고속철도 개설에 목표를 둔 정치활동을 지속해왔다.
